Africa's Hope

Theatre in Education - Aims

  • To engage with young British people and inspire them to become informed and responsible citizens and to consider how to respond to their own prejudices and the divisions in their communities.
  • To challenge perceptions and prejudices.
  • To make the term genocide relevant to the everyday life of young people, dealing with issues such as exclusion, racism and bullying.

Teachers' Resources

The resource pack aims to give an insight into Mashirika's production, the company and genocide prevention. It includes a basic synopsis of the play, an interview with the director, suggested pre- and post-show activities, cast testimonies, a background to the Rwandan genocide and links to further resources.

We hope you will find the pack useful.
